Anyone know how long the Whisper hangon filters last? It seems that every few months or so the one I have will die on me no matter how well I keep it cleaned up with the problem of the hard water build up on it.

Yeah, sometimes the impellor will gum up, this has happened to me before so I have switched to MarineLand's Emperor Filters. But, to continue using your Whispers, take a bottle brush and clean out the impellor.
