Flourish confusion :D

If I'm understanding everything correctly, Flourish contains both traces and iron, while Flourish Trace is traces only and Flourish Iron is iron only. Correct?

The sticky says to use Flourish for traces, then also use Flourish Iron for iron. Is the amount of iron in Flourish just not sufficient so more is needed? Or is the Flourish mentioned in the sticky actually meant to be Flourish Trace which doesn't contain iron?

The bottom line is, do I need to buy just Flourish, or should I get Flourish Trace and Flourish Iron separately? I have to purchase this online since I haven't found any locally, so I wanted to be sure to get everything I need in the same order so I don't have to reorder more later and pay more shipping :)

Flourish Iron contains 3 times the amount of iron that Flourish does. It is used in situations where you are dosing enough traces but need more iron. If you were to up your dosage of Flourish in order to increase the amount of iron you would be setting yourself up for an algae outbreak thus, the Flourish Iron. Tanks with a fluorite substrate don't need added iron because of the high iron content of the fluorite. You can visit Seachem's website for more info. Seachem
 
I'm using just Flourish and then Flourish Excel for carbon, since I like my Bio-wheels. My plant look fine and grow well. My routine is in the link to my member page and in my sig.
 
Thanks for the replies, it makes more sense now :)

I have onyx sand which has a decent iron count, but not near what the flourite has. I went ahead and ordered some Flourish Iron along with Flourish and Flourish Excel sine it was on sale at drsfostersmith.com anyway :D

I recommend that you go with the Flourish. It has all the Fe that you will probably ever need to dose for most plants. If, at some point you see symptoms of Fe deficiency, you could supplement Fe. IME, this is unlikely in most applications.
Flourish Trace is, IMO a watered down version of Flourish and not worth the money.
