banana plant

worlds last gunslinger
I bought one on ebay on impulse (I know, i should check first!), and would like to hear from anyone who has any knowlage of their husbandry.

They currently have exeptional lighting ( 150w halide), and fertilizer treatment, but the water is a bit on the hard side, with pH being around 8.

Any words of advice people?

Many thanks

Mine grows well. I have hard, alkaline water and get it to grow under 2.24 Watts per gallon of PC lighting. It's a cute plant.

I have a huge banana plant that puts out a leaf or root every week or so. 25 gallon tall Eclipse with 45 watts of fluorescent light, DIY co2, 6.5 pH. It has two runners to the surface and bottom leaves that are about 4" in diameter. It did okay at 30 watts over 25 gal tall and 7.2 pH, but it absolutely thrives with the added co2 and higher light. But that is just my experience.

i thought they didnt root. i have one and i just stick it in the water and put some of the banana plants roots uder the substrate and thats it.

Mine rooted and lost its bannana's. It eventualy died or became so sickly from constant pruning that i pulled it. (Hair algae problem that just went away).
