My LFS suggested a green scat for my cichlid tank which I bought. The LFS said it will only grow to 6-8 inches and only needs a little salt in the water. After reading about scats on this site I see I made a bad purchase. Anyone have experience with cichlids and scats in the same tank?

Scatophagus argus is decidedly a brackish water fish and will not do well in the company of many cichlids. this is a shy and retiring fish that can't stand alot of activity in the tank and certainly cannot withstand the beligerance of 'cichlids' in general. too, this is a vegetarian species and not many cichlids are so inclined. i'd return it.
