That Special Someone(s) At Christmas

I got mine a gun..of course he had to pick it out and get it since my FOID card ran out. But he likes it anyway. It's some repro Civil War era gun that will fit in a certain holster he got this summer...

Okay--feel free to laugh.

Yesterday my mom emailed me to see if I could go to the local Goodwill and see if they had a cassette tape player she could give my Grandmother. Apparently, my mom and aunt had been 'looking everywhere and no place had them'. I told my mom I was pretty sure the local Walgreens or RadioShack would have them, should I check there first? Well, of course, she said I should, and I did, and they had a pelthora of choices. So, I picked up one for a whopping $14.99, and mom is happy.

Then today, I talk with my sister. She says that my mom's 'everywhere' included Target, a music store in the mall, and my aunt checked the Radio Shack--in Vail CO. Sigh. Silly people.

So, while it's not that unusual, and I'm not really that impressed with it, a cheap-o casstte tape player with radio that my mom and aunt are giving my grandmother so she can listen to her books-on-tape is the present I'm getting the most credit for this year!

For my own giving--I'm giving my sister a framed picture taken of her during one of the triathalons she competed in earlier this year, and an electronic version of the same picture. She really wanted it, but didn't want to pay the online price tag.

Yeah, it's a good gift, just ridiculous that my mom is making a big deal out of me being able to find it, and saying that it was impossible to find in Denver.

For my sister--this is my OLDER sister. She has always been pretty active and fit, but decided last year to run a tri for the first time. She did well, and has really gotten serious about it. If she would practice and reduce her transitions, she'd be really competative--her actual race times are always within the top 10 percent, but her transitions slow her down to 20th percentile. I'm proud of her, but it drives me a little crazy that she's always bugging me to join her in one!

I'm giving my siblings money because I don't know what to buy them and I never get out anyways.

They're the only people I buy stuff for because I have to. But I'm not a bad person or anything - because it's not like other people buy me stuff anyways. I'd be mad if they did because then I'd have to buy them something.

Well I got my Christmas present early from my boyfriend... I got a white gold and pink sapphire promise ring. I thought that would fit under this thread.

For him... well I have little money because I am a student, so I am making him something. We're both hardcore poker players and so I am making him some shirts that say lines like "ALL-IN" and "I NEVER BLUFF" and just stuff like that... I think that'll be a good gift.
