Im giving two Golden loaches I have Plecomin tabs from Tetra as food. A guy told me that some foods are worse than others for adding phosphates/nitrates to the tank and that these sort of sinking foods are the worst.

Is this true? Is there any info on which foods are the worst and which are not?

Thats a fair point. But if a food is made of plant material, would it not have more of these two per gram, that say a meat based food?

Or am I completely wrong here?

either way your fish require meaty and veggie food in order to have a nutritionally well balanced diet- just do weekly water changes to keep phosphates and nitrates in check . . . and feed only what your fish can eat

I'm sure there are some differences but other than those foods that claim to be "lower-phosphorous" I'm afraid I'm of little help.

The point others are trying to make is that you shouldn't have to worry about it if you take care of the tank.
