I am a 16 year old Aquarium hobbyist living in Northern Illinois. Recently, last year, my Father lost his job, and has been unable to find a suitable position due to the destruction of the computer market (he was a Network Engineer). Over the summer, my Aquarium was the victim of a total ecosystem collapse, all fish and plants died overnight, and i had to disassemble the tank.

Thanks in part to my father not being able to get a job and the fact that schoolwork has me unable to do work myself, I am unable to set up a 29 gallon tank I got. I simply need supplies to do it. Perhaps I will set up my old 10 gallon if i get enough supplies so I can breed and sell fish to a local dealer.

So please, if you have anything you will be able to donate, please let me know. I may or may not be able to pay shipping.

PS: This is a picture of one of the Platies I had raised in my 10 gallon (about 1 month before it died... I raised it from fry to about 1" long)

PS2: Although I will accept most if not all donations, the main things I need are:
A lighting system (For the tank, something that will fit across a 30" long tank, and has at least 70 watts of light... though if you have a spare AH Supply 2x55w system... or dual bulb 20 watt ballasts...)
Laterite (Its not available here...)
CO2 system (DIY Yeast is.... evil though I will do it since no one will donate these...)
CO2 Reactor (Ill probably just cut a 2l bottle and inverse cup)
PLANTS.

Those sound like pretty expensive things to donate.

Have you ever thought of getting a partime Job at your local pet store? They could pay you in store credit. And you could get the items that way.

Just a thought, I'll say a pray for your dad that he gets thru his rough time. I can understand his situation.

P.S. Don't want to sound rude about suggesting to get a job, it was just a suggestion in case noone is willing to donate stuff. But you probably already thought of that :).

Good Luck!! :)

Yah.. Ive been looking for a job...

I have some strip lights and an whole 'old-time' plastic hood with light built in. Not 30", but might sit across a glass canopy anyway, plastic plants (in package still) and some air pumps, along with a lot of shells for cover. This all may be more helpful if you decide to run the 10 gallon for breeding. Your platy looked very preggo - so sorry for your loss - I have some breeding plant (plastic) cover too.

Let me know if you want me to get more specific measurements and get back to you. None of my stuff is guaranteed, but it's free (if you can spring for shipping). PM me or reply here.

Im not a big fan of plastic plants, though they would be ok, especially for breeders.

The "Old-Time" Plastic good and strip lights... what dimensions are they? And the air pump?

You know, Antman, I inventoried it, and it's all a bunch of junk, worthy of the trash can. Sorry I got your hopes up. Good luck with your quest.
