I have seen a couple of design on the internet for a DIY coil denitrator. My question is something that isn't address on any of these sites. Does the fucntion/effeciency of the coil denitrator has any effect if it was lying on it side rather than upright?

Hiya rohnds,

I have not made one yet, but have read ALOT about them.
It won't matter if it is on it's side, upside down, crisscrossed,
just as long as the flow is right. And remember it will have to
"Cycle" the same way your tank does (4-6 weeks). What are
you going to power it with, as far as a pump, gravity, nuclear,
etc...?

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

There is no difference, all you need is an anerobic(oxygen lacking) area with surface area for the bacteria, and your good to go.

I don't intend to use water pump to to regulate the flow rate but rather use gravity. I am sure the flow rate is going to change when lying on its side. It is close to 4 feet in height and used a total of 100 fet of tubing.
