My tank's been with me coming up to three weeks now. The first week I had it cycling without fish. Now there are four Neons in there helping the cycle out some more. When I come off my hols in mid-september I'll look to add to the Neons and consider building up a community.

Anyway, I thought I'd share my tank set up for comments and suggestions. Click on the pics for larger versions. First, here's the basic tank:

Now here it is all lit up but empty:

Then I got on my interior desgn hat and aptly demonstrated why it will always allude me as a career - here's the addition of gravel, ornaments, filter and heater:

The current set up, after adding plants and water:

I like that tank. With a dark background it would look great.

I started with colorful gravel, but opted out and changed to natural looking gravel. I'm really glad I did. I have real plants now, and two fakes mixed in for filler, but with the new gravel and darker background that I got, the fake plants don't look too bad IMO.

Since this is my first time keeping fish I didn't want to run before I could walk and have to deal with real plants as well as fakes. The gravel was the best the local store had - you should have seen the other types! Since it's not got fish in it, I'm guessing changing the gravel would be a really difficult job anyway.

The background is a mirror - it's not plain glass. I like the mirrored background, it's good.

Thanks for the comments!

Gavael change isnt all that hard with fine in the tank. Just use net to scoop out the old gravel. I was in maine this past January and found an awesome spot on the beach full of stones so I filled up a bag I had and brought them home. I scooped all the old gravel out of my 90 gallon and replaced it with the stones from the beach, after they had been boiled of course. Took me about 2 hours but it wasnt all that bad. I stired up a bunch of junk but did a water change afterwards and it cleared up.
