is there any chance that this could work with NO OTHER FISH PRESENT except maybe some feeders?
i am looking for a large fish 4-5"+ that could work well in a species only tank.
also, no convicts.

I'd have to say no, based on the possibility that the male might reach 12". It'd be ok for a while, but I doubt it would work for you long term. You might get away with a pair of nics. Maybe dempseys, if the male doesn't get too big. Severum would probably work ok. Basically the larger fish (typically male) needs to be less than 10", I would think.

I would say no. You will need more space for 2 GTs. If you like the Green Terrors then take a look at some Blue Acaras. They are very simaliar to GT's but only grow to about 7" or so. They also are alot less aggressive then most Cichlids. A Male/Female pair of Blues would work nice in a 55g

thank you, due to some research i now say that i am content to settle with 2 JD's in a potential 55. Strange though, one site mentioned breeding a JD and a GT. Wow! thats gotta be some good looking fry!
