Does anyone know of a good plant that I can use as a carpet for my tank. I have a 10g with java fern, water sprite and swords (I think they are...see the pic and decide?)

Anyways I wanted a plant that would spread out like a grass along the floor of my tank. Its only a 10g so I dont have CO2 injection. Currently 30w of compact fluorescent. I was suggested Christmas Moss but I dont like the mosses very much. Anything else that resembles grasses?

Do I NEED Co2 injection or can I get away without it? Im planning on a 20g long at in around May, so I'll get it for that...eventually. Please help....
I dont have laterite, just a sand substrate but I supplement with plant mineral tabs.

This is the tank, dunno what the long leaf one in the corner is called

I have microswords in my 80 that are JUST starting to spread everywhere but maybe they are too big foir your small tank? I think your tank is pretty by the way.

If you don't mind a little effort, glossostigma can be a neat carpet plant. You would probably need better lighting and CO2 for it to really take hold.

Check this link for dwarf hairgrass:

This is nice stuff and will probably fit in with your 10 pretty well. I grow it at 1.5 watts in some of my tanks.
BTW, the seller (Lowcoaster) is very reliable and safe. I've bought a bunch of stuff from him. Nice plants, good service. Send him an email and tell him what you want and he'll explain the process.

My guess is that you will probably need either CO2 or Excel and very heavy plant mass with some floaters for shading the tank or you may experience algae issues.
The plant you refer to appears to be Sag.

HC or Elatine tiandra....both nice carpet plants. You can also get the submerged growth form of Marselia.
