hi there, :p: i realize something, we say that for one oscar need a 55gal as bare minimum, and now i realize that this is for us cause in south america n central america, were most of our known cichlids come, have not to be in a 55 gal as bare minimum, they have even pairs of oscars in a 55gal, and some of us would say, how can this be?!?!?! but we cant judge them, those fish are from their place, and they have great specimens, i think the best of the world (SA n CA american fishes). and not just in this case, well for arowanas, they use 55gal for an arowana, we would say that they need a way bigger tank cause thay grow very big like one meter, but they dont, i have seen a 80cm full grown arowana living in a 55gal standard , it have live in there for 6 years, and seems very happy cause you can touch it and hand feed him, you can even grab him and he act like "never mind" lol, it also have great colors and swim side to side in the front part, cause the tank wide is f 32cm, but he swims normally, act normallly, but very joyful ad hungry lol, that was so cool to see this SA american arowana from where it comes , and it is a great dude. and there are a loooooooooot of cases like this, and not onlywith this fish, with oter species... well i just wanted to let some people know abput this... ill post this in a thread...

As I've said on tons of posts: Everybody keeps fish differently. I respect that.

However, that doesn't make me agree with what they do. And it doesn't make me want to keep my fish that way.

mute prisoners in jail wouldnt complain either, and guess what, they would look healthy too. doesnt mean humans are made to be kept in a 6x6 cells. sure if they commited a crime they should be put in there but contrary to appearance, humans arent healthy in small spaces. humans, dogs, cats, fish, brazilian stink bugs all need excersize. you can keep a human alive in a body bag doesnt mean its good for them. swimming space is just one of the issues with having an undersized tank. ive never heard of stunted growth being healthy for a fish.

just like parenting, everybody has thier own way of doing things... doesnt mean its right though.
