my silver angel hasn't eaten and has just been hanging out in one place for the past two days, today, i put him in a hospital tank but his stomach is concave and he won't eat, there are no worms or anything coming out of him and he looks and acts perfectly healthy except for not eating or moving a ton, water is at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 20 ppm nitrates, soft, 160 alk., and 8.0 pH, what could be the problem?

thanks

Was he eating before? When I first got my angels they didn't all want to eat--two of them didn't start eating much for almost two whole weeks. I tried a number of foods, before I found one that interested them at all. They are now eating a flake food with occasional frozen treat. However, my angels have always been pretty active.

yes, he was eating with the best of them, bloodworms, flakes, spirulina, everything, then he stopped

Well angels can go for a while without eating--some one posted about this awhile ago. I wouldn't have moved him, it probably just stressed him more. You can try jungle anti-parasite tabs, they are pretty gentle. It could be wasting disease, which is bad--it can happen when your fish are getting skinnier even if they have been eating, they eventually get eaten from the inside out. It can be treated with flubenozale (sp?) which you can get from a vet or a couple places on line.

Have you changed anything lately? Possibly added new fish, or anything that might have disrupted the tank? Angels are funny, they IME can be very tempermental. One I have (male) tends to be on the shy side and will become a recluse for short periods of time if he feels threatened in any way. Also, are you sure there are absolutely no other symptoms besides lack of appetite? Is he/she stagnent? Any rapid gill movement? From what I've read Angels can be somewhat prone to internal parasites. Any small pits on gill plates or around the eye area? Sorry about the interrogation, It's just I've recently had major issues with my breeding pair and fortunately was able to pull them through (with the help of the guys here of course). More information would be great! Good luck.

i recently added 3 rainbow fish just for a week or two until i can add them to my 90 gal., other than that, no changes and no other symptoms at all

Hi,

That's happening to my angel too. He hasn't been eating for weeks(not even blood worms)! The female angel I have is doing fantastic. They were even breeding before he got sick!

I hope your angel will start eating and get better soon!
