Has anyone ever had any experience with the product listed above? They are like fertilizer spikes that are supposed to be stuck under each plant. Last weekend I purchased them at Aquarium Adventure and they were advertised as year long fertilizer that didnt need any additional supporting treatments. On the back of the package it states " will have no negative impact on water quality" which leads me to the following. At the same time I purchased these I bought an API test kit and some more plants to add to my aquarium, replacements for destroyed anarchids, etc... In total I bought 4 new plants which brings the total in the tank to 6. Background on the tank is 20 gallons, 20W grow light, 3 Cichlids, 1 Pleco, 2 Koi (for the winter, I KNOW I KNOW....) the tank has been going great since the end of July. This is also getting C02 from DIY setup. Not sure of the bubble count but it has lowered the PH of my well water from 8.2 to 7.6, there is also a small stream of bubbles coming from my Fluval 3 filter via the venturi.

First thing I did was check the WQ with the new test kit and everything looked GREAT 0 ammo, 0 nitrite, 7.6 PH, 10~20 nitrite. Today I checked things again and the story has drasticly changed.... I now have 1 ammo, 80 nitrate(NO3 test), 2.0 Nitrite(NO2 test). The fish obviously aren't very happy, but no one acting extremely odd yet. obviously I need to change a lot of water quickly, but does this sort of thing sound normal for this type of product?

I have put a lot of time and cash into this, as most of us have, and I don't want to be trashing it.... Any thoughts are appreciated.
