My DIY CO2 botle was mysteriously toppled over. Tank water now all hazy w/ yeast, scum... yuk. Stock seems OK so far but it's a mess. Frequent PWCs to commence. Didn't help that the stuff clogged up my filter floss.

one reason why i'm not using DIY CO2 right now.....

Intelligible thread titles are always a plus...:)

May want to put your bottle in some type of holder so it can't topple over.

Wouldn't a check valve prevent this from happening again? It is funny all of the info you see about DIY CO2 says nothing about a check valve.

nope..I had one on mine when it happened..the check valve prevents water from the tank from entering the bottle.(one way flow)

It's a little better after 85% water change. More to follow.

Started couding up again - bad after a few hours. This time, I made a sm. bucket of FW & a big one. Pulled filter, plants - into sm. bucket. Scrubbed down all walls, tubing, filter, wiped plants, drained 85% water w/ gravel stirring, refilled tank 1/2 way, dipped Crypt leaves in warm tap water to try to break the slime layer, ran same through CO2 tube & airstone, replanted plants & topped off.

I hope I don't have to do anything more radical than that...

holy crap! I don't think you really need CO2 for a tank that small with just 2 plants. use floursih excel. much safer.

who's the little cutie? :D
