Has Petsmart orderd fish for you? Looking for blue rams and rainbow fish.

I've been to some sites where you can order some pretty neat loking FW fish. I found some that I'd like so I went to my local Petsmart and couldn't find them--even with 15 yards of tanks. Am I being too picky. If I order fish online, my wife will shoot me for paying $35 overnite shipping. I'm looking for these guys:





If the pictures don't work they are a German blue ram (Papilochromis ramirezi) and a boesemani rainbow (Melanotaenia boesemani).

GBR's prefer soft water. The ones from Fosters and Smith come from Thailand and may be injected with hormones. Don't know about Petsmart. I would recommend a local breeder. There are some reputable breeders on aquabid.

Boesman rainbows prefer harder water but aren't terribly picky. They are commonly avaiilable. I have seen them at Petsmart. They can get fairly large.
 
They have Bosemani at Petco.


Neither will look as good at the pictures when you purchase them. But in time they will really show their colors. Blue Rams are among the more... difficult fish to keep. They require excellent water quality and I suggest either massive water changes or lots of live plants.
 
Bought 6 GBR's at Pet Supermarket..5 died within 1 week...it's tough finding good quality GBR's I got them down from $7.99 to $5.99 each by talking to the Manager..I bought all they had..worst part is Pet supermarket only has a 72 hour guarantee..I was only able to get credit for 1 :(
