i have tried plants in my first tank but they all died and died and decayed. I think it was because that tank wasent ever cycled and back then i didnt know jack crap about fish tanks. But my question is would plants not die in a tank thats alreayd cycled and cleaned often? I dunno I just wanna put a few in my new and cycled 10 gl..

I mean that colorful estes gravel isn't good for plants because it's all artificial and the color peels off. Something like Onyx Gravel made by Seachem would be good because it is very rich in minerals that plants use. As for CO2, plants use CO2 for photosynthesis. You add it to the tank by either a pressure system the has a pump and canister the injects CO2 bubbles into the water, or you can make your own CO2 with a soda bottle, sugar, and yeast.

I just bought some plant bulbs. I forget the name but they say on the box you just throw them in the water and they grow and root thereselves in 15 days. Should I buy some fertilizer? Also about the CO2, is it really needed for only 1-3 plants in a 10g?
