Hi, I'm starting a nano tank. A half-gallon. I've decided to plant it, and I need a good light so the plants ( can grow. Suggestions? Thanks for any input!

It depends on what you're planting it with. But if mosses and anubias petite, an led desk lamp might be enough. Too much light and you'll heat the water too much

The plants are cryptocoryne cordata, I'm pretty sure. I'm also thinking of planting the nano with Dwarf hairgrass and anubias petite was actually on my list.

Oh, thanks for the warning. I'm glad I won't be buying a junk product.

For a small tank I have found that a normal desk lamp with an LED spotlight bulb can grow pretty much anything. I have used them over 29 and 55 gallon tanks and the light reaches to the bottom of the tank and is very bright. Here's the type that I use. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Brigh...hash=item2367219e38:m:mLrOAMb2K2pe1RsTn9olE8Q

For a regular desk lamp that takes screw in bulbs you'll need to choose the E27 base. 15 watts of either the natural white or cool white should be able to grow even the hairgrass. The cool white is like a fluorescent bulb and the natural white is scewed slightly more to the red. I find either quite pleasing to the eye but you may have a preference. Be aware also that the free shipping takes a while so no instant gratification!
