Bugs!

So, my 55g long tank has some kind of bug on the top of the water, they seem to hop and are almost too small to see. Daphnia maybe?

I have them in my paludarium. they seem to breed on the exposed driftwood. I got 2 hatchets that hunt them 24 hours a day... supposedly they are natural and not a problem but if you want to rid them, turbulent surface current is the way to go.

there are actually a few different species, not just spring tails. I have little red ones, little black ones, and little white ones. mostly white ones though.... which I think are spring tails. they jump like crazy.

Now I know what they are called...they drive me nuts, seeing them hop around on the water...gggrrr....

yup, they have a gross factor to them... but once I got the hatchet fish, I started seeing them as food, and now I don't mind as much.

Wish I could upload iPhone vids. I have a vid of these little white specs hopping on the surface of my tank. Just noticed today. Are these the Springtails for sure? Not harmful?

I have these too and just view them as a natural part of my enclosed eco-system. Pretty sure they are completely harmless.
