compatibility question

are neon gobies compatible with say... a blue damsel or 3 line damsel? in a 17 gallon tank. thanks

i would say the tank is to small and if you went with one i would do the blue dam. dams are very territorial and in a tank that small there is no telling what the fish might do.

If you go with the neon gobys first... you should be ok.

Adding goby first might help, but I do agree with the comment that 17g might create bit of problem due to its size and the nature of damsels.

But if you must, I would provide adequate amount of live rocks to create hiding places.

If you only keep neon gobies, your tank will be large enough...size isn't an issue. There will be an issue if you introduce damsels, they will be very territorial and will harass the goby/gobies. Your best bet is to go with a clown and 1 goby (or 2 small ones) or a firefish and 1 goby (or 2 small ones).
