Question...

Regular CF 6700K (96watts) bulbs are all white, but the "Colormax" has a pinkish tint on one side of the the 2 bulbs, and Coralife says it "enhances colors".

Is this a 'saltwater' tank light, or will it work, and "enhance colors" on a planted Discus tank?

________

I have a light similar to that (30 watt colorglo) on my goldfish tank and it indeed does enhance the fish's colors, especially the reds.

Most color enhancing lights(red/purple tint) are geared towards showing goldfish and similarly colored freshwater fish. But they lack in intensity and don't appear as bright as full spectrum lights of the same wattage.
Saltwater bulbs are much bluer in color(10,000K-20,000K, and actinic blue)
Full spectrum daylight light bulbs are somewhere in the middle and emit a whiter light with slight blueish or greenish tints depending on the spectrum. Many plant lights fall into this category with heavy emphasis on the blue and red ends of the spectrum. Especially red.
In my experience, 50/50 lights show fish with blue colors and highlights the best. Also, under 50/50 lights, black substrates look much darker. They add very nice contrast to all the colors present in the tank.
Out of all the lights mentioned, I like 50/50's best for 'coloring up' a tank and plants will grow just fine with them, as well.

Thanks...

I need 4 bulbs, so I'll try 2 of them to see how they look and keep the
"all" white bulbs for now.
