Generally speaking, what do you think would be the maximum dose of excel I could do safely?
This is a 16 gallon with 2 gold fish and no inverts.
There is some java fern in there and the algae growing on it is really ugly. I'd like to get rid of the algae without hurting the plants, I've heard of people using extra amounts of excel to kill algae.
One guy was removing fish and double dosing. Another girl said she left her fish in there and dosed the recommended "initial dose" daily.
This algae is lingering from a period of neglected water changes so I'm confident there won't be any new algae growth, just wanted to get rid of the old algae from the past.
Is this a stupid idea, should I leave it alone?
Thoughts?
