I occasionally feed my tropical fish with a frozen brine cube. Is it possible that this could cause a swim bladder issue in some fish? I lost a couple lamp eye tetras shortly after these occasional treats. They would swim in tight looping patterns on their side and slowly sink to the bottom unable to do more than flounder.
I recently lost a dwarf male gourami who acted in the same fashion shortly after a feeding.
My research shows this swimming action was due to constipation(?). I changed up my flake mix to incorporate more vegetable matter to counter these effects.
I may do away with the brine altogether . The brine has been the only common factor I can link to this odd behavior .
Any thoughts?

Do you let it thaw completely and warm up before feeding?

No. It usually thaws pretty quick in the water. The fish go after it when it gets blown apart by the water outlet. Do you generally thaw it? I was told to just drop the cube in. Never really intended to use the frozen stuff ,but was recommended at my LFS as a good ,occasional supplement....

Is there an advantage to frozen brine shrimp over freeze-dried in terms of an occasional treat for your fish? More nutrients in frozen?
