I am new to having them and they aren't living long. Curious as to why. Any help would be appreciated. How long should they live?

A little bit more information would be necessary if hope to get any useful information. Start with the basics: tank size, main water parameters ( temp, ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate - with actual numbers and not a unhelpful "water's fine"), tank mates. After that maybe elaborate on how long the tank has been setup, any problems with the tank in the past, what kind of filtration and maintenance schedule.

Are you talking about CPO, Dwarf Crayfish? If so there are a number of potential causes to the problem. First and kind of cooper or metals in the water is a problem. Too soft of water is a killer as well. Cichlids and a few other fish are found of eating them. Do they have enough hiding places as they tend to murder each other when they molt.
