Mudskipper setup

I am looking for any advice on converting my 180G bowfront into a mudskipper tank. My current plan was to split the tank into a sand bar in the middle with two bays on each side. The substrate is currently 2" of potting soil with 4" of sand on top. I was planning on just adding sand to the center and planting red mangrove throughout. For filtration I was going to do a sponge filer in each of the bays. The bays would be 24" deep and the sand bar would be
