Well, I still haven't gotten around to rigging up the thermometer at the top of the tank, but I did go ahead with Mellow's suggestion of raising the lights a bit. For now they're just on top of a couple pieces of scrap moulding that I had lying around. I'll have to rig something up permanent to make it a little more convenient to open the top when I do need to.

Nothing major really, save to say that the whole system seems really stable. Temps are staying around 71 with the lights on, low 50's at night which is about perfect. Humidity staying really stable at 95%. TDS of the water in the reservoir goes up a bit with each flood of the terrarium, but water changes with new Distilled water take care of that, and the old water I use to water the house plants and stuff, so it doesn't even go to waste.

methinks it will be cost effective in the long run to install a r/o system. if you "T" off after the filter and add a mineralizer after the "T" to a sink faucet, you'll have fantastic drinking water to boot for drinking, cooking, etc..

i understand priorities and money constraints, etc. ... but something to do when the availability arises in the future.

i know i'm getting ahead of you, here, but since you've caught "the bug" for plants that like clean water... assuming you'll increase your collection over time...

here's the unit i have... https://www.firstrays.com/cgi/cart/....207&product=RO_DI!Systems&pid=1401&keywords=
i grabbed the 5 stage 100gpd unit. comes with faucet and pressurized holding tank, so it's a complete under sink system.
later i added the mineralizer... https://www.firstrays.com/cgi/cart/...7&product=RO_DI!Components&pid=1405&keywords=
with that i added a john guest slip "T" to divert clean water before the mineralizer and a 1/4" slip ball valve to fill my reservoir for my terra. on my reservoir i have this bulkhead already from my misting system... so i just plug that, bring it down to the kitchen, put it under the sink and feed the line in there for filling.

i must add that there are way cheaper "T"'s, ball valves and probably bulkheads for your system/reservoir, but this tube cutting tool for cutting the tubing is practically invaluable during installation. on the back it has a little tool for releasing the tubing from the slip connectors should you feel the need for moving things around such as i do for filling my reservoir. i sure wish i had that with me when i set up my dads r/o unit. :swear:

I definitely want to set up an r/o unit. Hopefully next summer after I start my new job I'll be able to pull it off financially.

Took a few new pics today. Everything still seems very happy. Even the little tequilla division I got hasn't deteriorated at all. It's an unrooted division, so if it's happy, they all should be.
