Ultimate deal - at least so far...

wow. good luck. I can't belive you put the dirty tank in your bedroom!!! :)
Well, we live in an apartment and didn't have a lot of choice on that - couldn't leave it in the van - the heat would play havoc on the seals

also can't believe that a dirty bong or pipe wouldn't kill the fish! those tars and resins are nasty

May be why the fish aren't looking so hot

He was talking to a young guy who owns the tank, and has gotten so into SW that he thinks FW is passe. He has African Cichlids in the tank. Lots of Lava rock - Steve loves lava rock - fishes, etc. He is giving everything he has that is dedicated FW equipment and supplies along with the setup....

Oh, yeah, from what you say about the guy, and the conditions of the tank, he's gonna do great with SW.

Don't throw away his phone number--you could get some GREAT bargains a few months from now:grinyes:

Still...what a deal!!!

Awesome find...you don't see that everyday.

at least the tank is in the hands of people who will use it for what it is designed for..fish without parties.

lots of pics

Well - went to lfs and ordered most of the equipment we will need, including a nice sump/fuge, skimmer, and I don't remember what all else. We will be ordering the lights in a day or two, as soon as we get a price on them. Decided on 2 pendant MH lamps with moonlights. Gonna probably add up to a couple of grand just to get it outfitted to be a SW. :22_yikes:

We will transfer what we have in the 55 to the 125 when it is set up, and use at least some of the rock that came with it for base rock. Will need more sand, will use dead black aragonite in addition to the live black we already have.

here are some pics from the day we brought it home. also a pic of the cat (puppy the cat) checking out the new fishes in their rubbermaid QT. We have decided to keep most of the fishes. 3 or 4 of them are just too big for any of our FW tanks. We will offer them to a friend who is setting up a cichlid tank first, and then if he doesn't want them we will take them to the lfs.

You can see from the pics how dirty the tank is, and why we felt we absolutely had to QT all of the fishes.
