im a beginner with all of this so i don't need anything fancy or anything huge, i only have a 10 gallon tank but im looking for a multi-testing kit, something that can give me the run down of what to test for, something i can do every week or every month and see how my tank is doing and adjust things based on the results. I know there are basics like, PH, AMMONIA, NITRATES,NITRITES etc... i want to get most of the basics can anyone recommend a good kit that gets all the basics and more. i've heard of different kits giving different results so i want to get one that is most accurate. thanks!

API also has mini-kits for pH, ammonia, and nitrite (around $4 each) and a mini-kit for GH/KH as well...$4.54 Petsmart online.

i agree with above, stores like petsmart also offer free water testing so if your budget is tight and u live near one you can go that route. although be forewarned that theres some good employees who will know what the tests mean and some who are just nutty.
i only use api kits. really like them. dont know where i would be without my API Master Freshwater kit
I agree with all of the above. My only issue with the API kit is that the Nitrate tests run out before the others and getting individual replacements doesn't seem to be an option.
