I don't know whats wrong with my neon tetras. They still have great color but are letting them selfs be attached to the filter. I turned off the filters and put sponge around the intake. Theres no sign of illness except that they were sticking to the filter intake and turned them one again. 3 dead, 1 almost dead, 2 swimming around with slightly tattered fins. When I test the water everything is in range. I put in an PimaFix and MelaFix.

I had 9 out of 10 have a 'suicide party' round back of my submersible filter. No real reason, they just wanted to check out that teeny, weeny, teensy, tiny lil hole...

The other 1 decided to jam itself into some driftwood and couldn't get out...

Parameters were perfect, no real reason for them to do it.

No more neons for me until I get another hob filter, sponges for the intake and otherwise 'neon kiddy proof' my tank ;)

Pretty but not very 'bright' :grinyes:

neons are known for being fragile. what are your water parameters?

When they started going for the filter I tested the water after putting the sponges on. Everything was in range. I didn't write it down though. If I tested it again I wouldn't get an accurate reading because some of the hurt ones passed away.

I never got smart vibes from them. I'm thinking one may have fallowed a piece of food into the filter and got stuck then others tried to school with the stuck fish and got stuck them selfs.

I have one surviver so I'm going to have to get him some new friends today.
On a positive note the snail is having a field day with all the yummy fish to eat.

Yikes, well i would definatley remove the dead fish and do a nice big water change. Your snail and remaining neon will appreciate it. Sorry to hear about your betta.

Yeah I fished them out a flushed them. My snail seemed pissed. He was just staring to wrap his tenticals around one when I bopped him with a net and scoped it out.
