Hey guys, I don't know if this is in the right spot or not, so mods, please move it if I goofed..

I've been trying to sell of four setups for MONTHS now... I have a 55 gallon complete setup with fish, another 55 gallon complete setup without the fish, a 29 gallon complete setup with fish, and a 33 gallon complete setup without the fish...

I've tried selling them all four for 600, and got no bites...i've tried selling them individually for 100 for the 29 and 150 for the rest, and nothing...I've tried craigslist, ebay, aquabid, the forums...you name it, I've tried it...

anyways, I was just wondering, if I was going to sell those four all in one group, how much would they be worth?

thanks!

hmmm. you could break up the tanks and sell the equipment, tank, hood, light, etc. all separately on ebay. i can almost say that you would get some money (list after holiday; no one has the extar cash or thought to really spend on their tanks). so for your 29, give the fish or trade them in to the lfs. then tear the 29 down. sell the heater separate, the hood and bulbs together as one, the filter, the stand and tank as one, etc. thats what i would do.

It also depends on the country you are in...

Try posting it on the forums here in the for sale section with pictures.

I don't have the time to be able to tear everything down like that...what I've been hoping to do was to sell them all off in one group...I've had people interested, but we've never been able to agree on price...here is the craigslist for it...

Based on that information, does anyone have a suggestion for me for how much I should be asking?

trouble is you are trying to sell your dream (aquarium setup) to someone else. that someone else wants to make that aquarium into their own.

ok...I'm not sure I understand...what does that have to do with how much people will be willing to pay for it?

I guess basicaly my question is, is 600 bucks too high?

Here in SoCal, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for each tank with all accessories included. And that's even pushing it. There are just too many people that sell for that price or even less. I've seen so many listings for complete 100+ gallon aquariums for under $100. For a second hand shopper, it's worth the wait of a few weeks or even months to pick up a steal.

i find that tanks sell better emptied and cleaned without fish and water. They are easier to move and it gives the new owner the chance to stock it with their own ideas.

I haven't checked the Erie craigslist lately, but I don't remember seeing much aquarium action. You don't have a large population in Erie to work from. You are close enough to several larger cities- Buf, Cle, Pit to attract out-of town customers, but most won't do the drive because it isn't worth it with the extra gas. I see similar setups with similar prices here in Pit that I can get without the 2 hour one way drive and an additional gas cost.
I am not interested in buying your tanks so take this for what it is worth. If I were in the market, you would have to either offer a screaming deal to make the drive cost effective or include delivery to negate the distance.
I think your price is reasonable for a local customer if you can find one. I think it is too high to attract soemone from the surrounding cities since they would pay close to $100 in gas plus a half a day trip.
