i just had a 5 gallon bucket put some in bottom filled it with some water and swooshed my hand in it dumping some water out without loosing sand and repeat till water is clearer, with sand its hard to get it real clear cause sand gets stirred up to..
ok, i tried the bucket method and it will literally take hours upon hours. I am going to run to the store and grab some panty hose and maybe silk fabric.
alright i finished using a pair of panty hose stretched over a colander. Well, I have put it in the tank, filled the tank, and got the filter going. Its EXTREMELY cloudy right now and I am starting to have second thoughts about this sand. I really hope it settles with the help of the filter going.
Although I haven't had many people have the same experience as me, I have the same problem with pool filter sand. I normally just take the time to rinse it like crazy. The times that didn't get clear enough, I would get things cleared up after a full water change or two. It's a pain, but it's worth it when it comes out the way you like it.
