Niko, are you about? I need help.

OK, here's the story.

Had my internet through NTL (UK comp)

Virgin bought them so had to change my internet to Virgin, not complaining really, 8 x faster broadband for same price, thank you.

So, they sent me a new modem, which I dutifully installed, and am on the internet right now using it...sitting on my back end in the hall, wired to the hall wall...

So, I unplug the modem, assuming my wireless will work, much as it did before...guess what...didn't work and I dont have a clue why! My Daughter is giving me such an earache because I broke the internet again!

All the right lights are blinking on the router and my laptop tells my wireless connection signal is excellent, however when I launch internet explorer, no can do!

I'm using Vista, if that helps....

Help!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!! I LOVE IT....Niko you should start your own "fix your PC problem thread"!!!

Nick, hope you get it all figured out:grinyes:

LOL, I used to scream at my dad when he would mess up the internet! I'm sure I caused him a few headaches, hehehe

Now I yell at my boyfriend when he messes it up ;)

Hey Niko, thanks!

The laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro

<<Nice laptop>>

The wireless router is a D-Link DSL-G624T.

The new modem is a Speedtouch 330

When I say unplug the modem, yes I mean unplug the Speedtouch router. It connects via USB port.

Ok....if i remember NTL / Virgin cable...it does not require a modem, so cool, should just require the router....soon find out if thats the case...

Was the router supplied by Virgin? or just the modem? or both??

Hey Niko, Virgin supllied the new router, I phoned them about why the wireless wasn't working and they said I had to connect the new router so I could put in the new username and password.

Did that, and thats how I'm on internet now.

However, I thought all I had to do was to take out the router, connect the wireless router back up to the phone line and 'hey presto, i would back on line again....unfortunately not...

So, sorry for the confusion, dont think there is a modem
