Everyone post Pics of your Tank Here

I figured for 10lb per gal. When you figure in for rock, tank and every thing. But you loose water as you add rock. 1 gal of water is like 8.4 lb. That means that it will be about 750 to 800 lb.

The thing is that I would put a center post in the front but if I do I wont be able to get my sump out if I need to. I find it hard to beleave that the tank is going to bend or brake that 4x4 in the front. I looked at the cabinets that the LFS offer with a tank this size and they were not any where close to as strong as this cabinet. they are made of thin Pine boards and very little bracing. No 4x4's, 2x4's or anything like that. So if those creats can hold it then this one could hold 2 this size. I have set hot tubs that are bigger then this thing and never a problem.

What I found!

I found a thread of a 210gal reef tank setup. Now this tank most be around 2,300lb. My tank is 75gal whitch, like I said will be around 750lb to 800lb. These are some pictures of this guys cabinet on the inside. There is almost no bracing and this tank was his brothers for a long time befor he passed away. Now he's has setup the tank up at his house with his family. The tank looks like it has been running again for awhile and is still standing. So I think mine will be fine. I hope! LOL

If you haven't seen this thread yet you should check it out it's a great one.

Also to the owner of these pictures and the tank that is in them. I think that this is a great tank setup and a great reson for doing it with your family. I hope you don't mind that I used your pictures.

It all comes down to what you are personally comfortable with. I myself, having learned from my father, design objects which are meant to carry a load to carry at MINIMUM twice the load I could potentially put on it, frequently more. It never hurts to be overly cautious when it comes to supporting that much weight, especially with the potential damage it could do to your home if it ever failed. If I was building a stand for a 75g tank, I would have it built to hold 2000 lbs. This is WAY overkill, but that would help me sleep better at night, assured that if anything failed, it certainly would not be the stand supporting it. I do like the progress you've made between the initial post and the new post on the stand though. Keep up the good work. :)

WOOD RIGHT get the unit right first don`t risk anything once thats sorted then worry about other things like sumps etc thats the base of your success if that go`s its all gone & more as you room will be flooded........

but it all looks great it will be an amazine system dont risk a thing

Thanks guys again for the posts. I'm know that the way this thing is built it could hold much more then what it will have to. I am taking things slow. I was gunna go out and buy all of the stuff I wanted all at once but then thought that I would buy as I needed. I like this better becouse it gives me time to build one thing and only one thing at a time. If I run into something that might change my mind or hear about something better I don't have to return anything. I find that the more I look around this site the more things change in my plans. I feel like there getting better and closer to a great start. I will be posting pictures every step of the way so I'm sure you guys will be a big help along the way. Thanks agian for the comments and the help.

It's been a while since I posted a FTS, and since I just tore down my tank, cleaned the crap out of it and put it back together again, I figured I'd post one up:

PS - You can't really see one because of a fish, but both BTA's are doing just fine. ;)

Subliminal I thought you had fragged all of your Xenia?? The tank is looking great btw.

The latest pics of the 240 with lights this time

I finally have the lights I need. Sorry about the lousy pictures, I till have to figure this action shot thing on my Canon.

8x54w T5 4x12k and 4x03
3x55w PC 03

I think it's too blue so I'm going to swap out 4 03 T5s and buy some 6500k's in place. Hope it yellows it up some.

Thanks for looking.

Hey Tom,

If I were you, I'd think about replacing the 12ks with either 10ks or 6500, rather than switching out all of your actinics.

Sorry, just noticed you had the PC bulbs as well.
