I did water changes this weekend without using a bucket at all

I went to Lowe's and bought a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter. I unscrewed my power head and screwed the adapter on. Then I attached the Python T-Valve and attached my python hose to the T-Valve. I have a gravel vacuum with a 25 foot hose that I run to my floor drain in the basement or out the window (or to a toilet if necessary). Then once I get the temp right I add some dechlorinator to the water and close the T-Valve so the water goes down the tube and into the tank. Took me all of 30 minutes to do massive water changes on my 110 and 75 gallon tanks.

The only thing that sucks is that the shower door is at a 45 degree angle to the shower head and when getting the temp right I literally get pretty soaked. I really need to get something to put over the nozzle so the water all goes straight down. As of right now all I do is throw the bathmat in the dryer for 30 minutes and I'm good to go...
 
Hey how about getting one of those hand held shower heads,ya know what i mean, on a hose you hang up to use as a regular shower.. Have them at walmart or wherever. Then you could attach the python onto where the sprayer goes and hold it till the temp is right. Then close it and let it go

There are cheap and there are good if you use it alot..Lowes hardware had this here..

There is a problem with that. If you are running the water all the way through the python to check the temp it will take you about 60 seconds between every adjustment as you will need to wait till the water is all the way through python to check to see if it is too hot or too cold.

If you get the right temp and then try to screw the python on you will make a huge mess. If you get the right temp and turn the water off and attach the python and try to get the same spot on the faucet to get the same temp you are going to be off.

The T valve is great except it is messy. I'm thinking of going and buying a flexible hose from Lowes to go from the Pipe from the wall to the new Valve. Basically a hose with a 1/2 female to a 1/2 male. That way I can aim the hose into the corner till I get the right temp and then switch it over to the python.


OH, ONE MORE THING!!! VERY IMPORTANT. Make sure the end of the python is in the tank and secured in place. Whether you put the lid down on it and something on top of the lid, DO NOT JUST PUT THE HOSE IN AND TURN ON THE WATER. That hose will come right back out and spray down the wall, ceiling and floor in the process!?!?! Guess how I know about this!?!?!:newbie:
