Hi,

Could I have some opinions/suggestions on my tank please.
Also I have a few questions (see photos).

Can anyone tell me what the worm type thing is towards the right on pic 2?
At night, the end of it fans out. Also on pic 2, what is the bush of purple in the centre of the picture. The white bits on it is coral sand.

On pic 3, what is the coral with purple dots called (right towards top)?
Also on pic 3 what are the stumpy things to the left of the above coral?

And finally, pic 4, whats the name of the fish called in the of the picture?
Its yellow with a pink strip from down its back to its bottom lip.
(Also on pic 1, top left of tank)

Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.

The tank looks nice and clean. How long have you had it set up.

We could do with some closer shots of the things you want to I.D. Could do with a better shot of the "worm thing" but I did notice some suspicious looking aiptasia in the top left of picture 2.

The "bush thing" looks like a type of macro algae.

The coral with the purple dots is a mushroom.

The fish looks like a Diadem Dottyback (Pseudochromis diadema) can be aggressive.

The tank has been set up since mid december 2007.

I do have the odd bit of aiptasia, I have seen the one you mention......
will sort that out in a bit .

Just did an image search for Diadem Dottyback, thats the one, thanks.
Does the mushroom need anything to live? Should I be feeding it with anything?

Will get some more pics later.

pic 3 stumpy looking things, if my memory serves me right are a form of button polyp

If you want more info about any of them try looking up coralamorphs for the mushroom and you can try to determine exactly what type, similarly zoanthids for the button polyps and purpleback pseudochromis or P. Diadema for the fish. I find this is more helpful then the common names because you often find common names used to reffer to different species in different areas and stores so it can help eliminate confusion.

They multiply faster if you feed them. Your choice. I give mine small sinking fish food pellets with a turkey baster, and they quickly multiply to cover the rock, which looks cooler. I then back off feeding them and let them fend for themself.

I've also propogated 'shrooms by cutting them with a razor, then sell those small chunks of LR with established shrooms on them back to the fish store for a profit.

IMHO - the mushroom rock with all the corraline is too close to your light. You might consider moving it lower and more towards the middle of the tank.
