SO besides the 55 gallon tank I have which is my pride and joy this is my experimental tank. I've never done an 8 gallon planted before and its actually QUITE interesting. Now going from a 55 gal ALL THE WAY DOWN to an 8 gallon let me just say HOLY CRAP its tight lol. So the details

Equipment/Items in use

8 Gal Jalli Tank
Aqua Soil - Malaya with a fine layer of Marine "Dead" sand over it
Lighting is a 36 watt Quad Power Compact!!!!! (yes thats right over an 8 Gal)
Filtration is a Nano Filter made by the Red Sea
Heater is a cascade heater..nothing special it keeps the heat stable
Various Rocks and a small slab of driftwood for a more natural look
Daily Doses of ADA Fertz

Fish/etc. in the tank

5 Ammo Shrimp

Misc. Notes

- Instead of using an actual heater next time I think I might use the heating substrate cables because in an 8 gallon tank the heater kind of takes up some room I could use.

- C02 is impossible! they simply don't make a small enough unit for any tank under 10 gallons. Even in a 10 gallon tank I'd be kinda iffy about it.

- I have a 36 watt light over my tank because I wanted this tank to have more then ample lighting and an 8 gal tank needs about 33.246753246753244 watts of light for high lighting according to my math skills. My light pumps out 36 watts I'm good :) and SO far no algae issue of course that will come in time I understand

ok enough of my ramblings here's my tank

thanks lupin! plant tanks are very very addicting I'm already on yet another project 20 hex :D

Yes fishy_fun those are actually dwarf onion plants mixed in with contortion vals..I like it cause it gives the tank a more grassy look. and thanks for the comments

Lupin - yep yet ANOTHER planted lol this time with the 20 hex lighting is going to be the biggest issue because theres no enough watts per gallon unless I do low light plants, which I'm not soooo it should be interesting.

That looks great, nice job.

BTW, what are those reddish plants in the right foreground? I have one in my tank and I don't know what it is.

Thanks rich311k & Msjinkzd

KuchDaddy - thats Primrose aka Ludwigia repens one of the best plants ever! Very undemanding and grows like the dickens.

by the way I can't update the 1st post so some more details
