How easy is it to convert a 10 gallon light thats using flurecent to using the bright walmart bulbs? I have so many of these lights, I need to convert 2 for my next 2 tanks. anyone got a site that shows me how to do it? and a site to buy the converting kit?
thanks

yes, but I am looking for info on how to make my florecent lights in to incandecent lights so I can add the 2 13 watt lights to it.

uummm..you meen the other way around right

all you need to do is unscrew the little round incandecents and screw in the Walmart Daylight 6500k compacts.. you can remove the little reflectors in the hoods too,and paint the top with white paint, that seems to help a bit

or is that old style/type hood that uses that tube..I had one of them for 10g..those you have to remove all the guts and install the sockets for the CFL's..It would probably be easier just to go to Walmart and buy the incandecent 10g hood and the CF bulbs and just swap the bulbs, thats what I did with the one I had

i think she means she has the long tube ones. she wants to turn it into the screw in CFL lights.

thank you LOL! yes, this is what I need to do . I have a new already set up 10 gallon tank for the new guppies I am getting. but I want to upgrade the lights. if the guppies do well and then have babies I want this to be a baby tank .

You should be looking at double socket w/switch.
Take out the inside of the lightstrip (reflector/bulb)
Make a small hole for the switch to go into, wire it back up, screw in the switch and your good.. Oh forgot.. before you put everything in you can spray paint the inside white or cut a large coffee or even a coke can in half (vertically) and use that as a reflector.

Spray paint - $3.50
Socket w/ switch - $5 + shipping ($7-8) Unless you can find that switch at a local lamp repair store.
bulbs- 4 for $8

no i mean I have the long tube type lighting and I want to convert it to the screw in kind. :)

thats what I thought after I read it again.. I had one of those for a 10g,and after looking into changing it over like you want to do,and adding up the cost of parts..I just went to Wallmart and bought a 10g incadecent hood and the 6500k Daylight bulbs, get home, and instead of putting the incadecents bulbs that came with the hood in,I just screwed the Daylight bulbs in the hood..way easier .I think the hood was around $20 and the 2 pack of CFL's were $7 something
