I soak the suction cups in hot water to make them more pliable, but it only helps a little bit. I have trouble with all suction cups, either they won't stick on or won't let go.
I had a problem with this as well at first. I must have looked like a complete idiot to my family after them just slipping in nicely with all the yelling...
I finally got them in tonight. The embarrassing part was that it took about two minutes total, once I tried to push them through the notch. :duh: :wall:
But, the heater is installed and the water is warming, so all is good with the world. :thm:
hehe. I struggled like hell with the first one. Once you find the trick and get the first one in, you think "!@#%^$...why was it so hard?" Second one is easy.
One other question: looking over the instructions again, they specify placing the heater either horizontal or vertical. Well, I placed mine at about a 45-degree diagonal on the back wall. I can't imagine why, but is that a problem?
Probably isn't a problem but I saw the same thing as well and put it horizontal in my tank just to be safe. If it did make a difference, I would guess it has something to do with the thermostat or the auto-shutoff. It's probably designed to work in either 0 or 90 degrees. In between could make it malfunction. But I could be wrong though; it's just a guess.
