i was just at http://www.livingseaaquarium.com/ --

They are not far from my house here in chicago -- they are one of a very few marineland certified stores in the country.. store pretty much only sells marineland products -- actually its a very cool fish shop -- mostly salt water and its HUGE -- i mean HUGE

I went there to stock up on bio spira as I was reading it was discontinued

they said marineland is not discontinuing the product -- it's a rumor started by a competitor..... and they had whole fridge full of the stuff....

I was relieved -- as I found bio spira to cut the cycling time in half -- although i think seeding from an establish tank is just as good .....

(shrugs)

better than just as good...

Someone received an email from the company stating that it was discontinued and is being brought back under a different name and in a different form.

(shrugs)

I dunno -- all i know is what the marineland store told me.....

that being said.. I emailed marineland from there web site -- I'll see what they say -- you are probably right -- but I would also expect someone from a marineland store to know (shrugs) or not -- lol

so marineland emailed me back after I asked if they discontinued bio spira ...

here is there response....

Hello,
No. We are re launching it in May. We have re packaged it and increased
the concentration to make it shelf stable. It will no longer need to be
refrigerated as long as it is used by the expiration date. The
freshwater version will be branded Tetra and called Safe Start. The
Saltwater version will be branded Instant Ocean and still be called
Bio-Spira.

Yeah, same exact response the other dude got.

I would be that other dude. I couldn't believe it myself so I personally contacted Marineland to ask. Here was the reply I received.

Hello,
It has not. It will soon be re-launched as Tetra Safe start for
freshwater and Instant Ocean Bio-spira for salt. Watch for it on product
shelves as it will no longer need to be refrigerated.
