Angels and Corys

schoolers. They will look amazing with the angels if the angels do not eat them.

At the moment my angels are (I think) too small to be able to eat the tetras, the angels are only about 2-3" body height. Fingers crossed they are too small, and when they get bigger will be used to the tetras and ignore them.

Angels are oppurtunistic eaters. If they can eat it, they will. I have had the angels in with my tetras and platys for a while now and my tetras and platys are all slowly disappearing one by one. That is why now I am searching for some really big tetras or other compatible fish to go with my angels. I hope you have better luck with your angels.

:iagree:

with angels and tetra mix ..it's hit or miss.

my angels will eat anything they can fit in their mouths..especially neons and oto's

Hmmm maybe I will just stick with a bigger school of cory cats............. that was my original plan anyway. Just a couple of posts had me thinking about getting some tetras, and while I think it would be neat to view the angels hunting the tetras, I don't think my wife would be too happy about it!

Now to figure out how many cory cats I can get to go in there, unless I see something that I like the look of to go with the angels.

The only thing wrong with just corys and angels is that if for some reason your corys decide that it would be best for them to just hide for a few weeks, which mine do, your tank would look extremely empty.

For some reason, my corys will be out and about swimming around the entire tank, breeding like crazy, then for a few weeks they will just hide, all day. When my 13 corys hide...my tank looks empty and I have 10 other fish currently.

I noticed this already with only 4 in there (although that might change some when there are 8-10). During the day I rarely see them, in the evening they are out and about all over the tank, but for the most part they are tough to spot through all the decor.

I think I might have to see how much rummynose tetras cost and make the decision from there. May also try black neons if the rummynose are too expensive.

I decided against rummies and went with black neons...they are great schoolers and are large enough to be housed with angels...and in my opinion, they look great. I recently got 12 for $20...which I believe is a great price. I also called around and got prices ranging from 1.99 to 2.99...with most places offering discounts at 10+ quantity. I could have gotten them a wee bit cheaper, but I went with a quality store over one that I think is subpar.

I never did look into the prices of rummies, though I believe they will be around the price that I found for the black neons, in my area anyways.

I feel like around here I have seen rummies for twice the price of black neons. I do really like the look of black neons, only ever seen rummies once and not really paid too much attention to them.

Will find out in a couple hours if I get a chance to head to the LFS.

keep us posted (with pics) :grinyes:
