Their parents spawned in a 65g (smaller footprint) community tank with NO injuries to anyone, so my "opinion" would be a yes - but like humans, irregardless of the species, sometimes an individual fish doesn't "act like they are supposed to" - and that could go for these guys or for your community fish. We never know for sure, but it would be a good guess.

As the the thoughtful suggestion regarding PetSmart or PetCo - the ONLY think remotely close to me is Walmart - and that's 45 minutes one way. ALL pet stores/LFS's are 2-2.5 hours away one way. I've had every suggestion imaginable, but this method is just about to get the tank emptied and the little blue "wet pets" re-homed in great new homes from forum members. I prefer having forum members get them over ANY fish store anyway!

Thanks for sending the HRP and plants to my daughter, I'm not sure where the post office had the poor fish for 6 days but I think it was amazing that they did so well. My daughter opened the box at the post office and the fact that there were live fish in the box amazed the postal employees. They took my daughters cell and home phone numbers in case she receives another shipment. All 5 HRP's were alive at the post office but by the time my daughter drove the 20 minutes home one had gone into shock and she lost it. My hats off to you for doing such a great job packing. I'm curious what the longest someone has had fish survive shipping. I might just start a thread and see what kind of answers pop up! Thanks again!

So John, can you explain why they were fine when she opened the box, but died from shock after opening the box? I think they must have gone to "timbuktoo", then on to your daughter's house when they realized the box was written in english and not "timbukto-ese". Geesh - she's not THAT far away from here! Anyway, glad I used such good shipping chems and pure oxygen or none would have even made it to the post office. I hope she enjoys them for a long time - they really are such beautiful fish - thanks for the purchase and for finding some of my babies another good home!

I have no idea where they did go, the fish you shipped me were here in 2 days. I think that after being in the dark for 6 days then having the light when they were opened then closed back up, the one just gave up cause the "light at the end of the tunnel" was turned off again. She just loves them! Did I tell you I have rainbow fry from the rainbows you sent me? Thanks again, you do a great job!!!

My 5 little guys you sent came in today. The packing job was excellent, no sloshing around. Everyone looked very nice and healthy. It took 3 days to get here, so i gave them a little extra time during the acclimation process. I'm watching them explore the tank right now with the lights off and the blue LED moonlights on. They lost a little color, but not nearly as much as I would have thought after shipping. I cant wait to see these little guys color up fully! I would highly reccomend these guys to anyone looking for smaller cichlids! Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words Mike. We always try and pack our little wet pets as if we were shipping four legged pets or our own kids. I label the heck out of the boxes so the poor things don't get migraines being sloshed around by the postal folks. When I take them in to our PO, they smile and pick up the box ever so gently like the multiple labels ask them to do! I'm glad you're enjoying them. They are such a beautiful and friendly fish that's an asset to a community tank. Keep me posted how things go if you don't mind - I love hearing how my little ones are faring later on. Thanks for giving them a great new home.

Thanks to everyone who gave my babies new homes! I'm thrilled to report that it appears (pending on the last 10-12), that they all have new homes now. Very soon now I can now clean up the twin 65g's and get them sold (maybe craigslist on them...).

Thanks again everyone!!
