Paddle Fish : Polyodon spathula

They do all right in big tanks and ponds. The Nashville Bass Pro Shops has had a half-grown one for several years, and I believe the Tennessee Aquarium has a few as well.

Setting these captive animals free is not a good plan; genetic pollution and pathogen introduction are big threats compared to the possibility of boosting a population by two or three individuals. In any case, American paddlefish (which is what Neo has) stocks are reasonably stable and are even subject to limited harvest for meat and caviar in several states, though the giant Chinese paddlefish is now nearly extinct in the wild.
