Don't try this at home...

Good cause, but at the end of the day... Darwin rules. The stupid shall be punished.

The cause has probably received more publicity because of this. Sad, but true.

I do feel for his family and friends.

honestly, the cause he was working for kind of spoils the humor for me.

:iagree: when people are being stupid for stupid sake and has something stupid happen to them, I am the first to laugh. No matter how bad the result. This guy however, was doing something for a cause that he felt worthy enough to do it for. My hat goes off to him. God bless him and what he was trying to do. I'm sure he will be rewarded.

I dont want to call BS too quickly, but it took the mythbusters like 20,000 party ballons to raise a 5 year old.

But it was on the internet... it must be true! :lipssealedsmilie:

Granted he had good intentions, but the guy decided to tie a bunch of balloons to himself and just float off. Any kid who has ever seen a Roadrunner cartoon could have predicted that the stunt would end badly.

Yeah, but it was probably an American kid... The media is constantly saying how American kids are so overweight these days. :)

This is not BS. I don't know what kind of balloons were used, but another guy just did the same thing recently. He took off from Oregon sitting in a lawn chair and landed a few 100 miles away in Idaho. It made the national news. You have to think outside the box. No one said they were your everyday party balloons. I love Myth Busters, but apparently they don't watch the news.

But, it's been done so many times successfully. i will admit, I wouldn't have done it over the OCEAN!
