Hi. I am new to the board and I have to say I love reading posts on here. Everyone is so knowledgeable and nice
I have a 20 gallon tall aquarium that developed a leak. My husband doesn't want to go to the trouble of resealing it - he thinks I should just buy another tank. Well I was thinking if I get another 20 gallon I would rather have a long instead of a tall. My stand is 25'' long and is the kind that just supports the sides. I know a 20 long is 30'' across so I was wondering if I could attach a 31'' board across the top of the stand so I could get the longer tank. Would that hold the weight of the tank ok with the 2.5'' overhang on either side of the board?
Obviously I am not a carpenter or anything so when I say board I guess I would like ideas on how thick a board I would need to make it work.
Also I guess I should mention - you don't need to worry about our fish - we had just bought a 55g right before I noticed the leak so talk about fortitious
because we had just moved our fish over earlier that day.
Thanks!
