What should I stock my 10g with?

Once again, not allowed to edit... (let me guess, there's a specific amount of time when you can edit).

For algae eaters, is there any types of plecos I can get for a 10g?

I also need the # of neons in a 10g (including algae eater and betta).

How about 8 neons and a betta and you wait until you develop algae to pick up an algae eater. If you have live plants in teh tank, you could very likely not have an algae issue. If this is the case, you would have to supplement any algae eater. Also, I wouldn't put a pleco in a 10g, they produce too much waste. IF in the future, when teh tank is well established, you had algae you could consider otos.

I'm pretty sure ottos are too big for a 10g, aren't they?

...well, not too big, but don't they need to be in groups? Also, I heard somewhere on these forums they only eat algae in the beginning stages.

*EDIT*Anywho, thanks for the info, it really helped! :)

Oto's are great algae eaters and they are not very big. I think they would be fine if you had a pair. Ask your LFS to get the cardinals for you. They are much better than neons.

I think that you could do

1 betta
2 otos
5 cardinals

Wait for a couple of months before getting the otos, though.

Dang, now that I look at them again, I can't resist shrimp...

Oh dear, I must've been converted to the "shrimp side"...

That being said, now I have to change my plan for 8 neons and 1 betta!

blargh...

So, I'm planning a tank with neons, a betta, and shrimp (probably amano, since they're so popular). How many neons, and how many shrimp? (one betta, of course).
