Trying to become a salty..

aha alright refracto is the way to go any other suggestions? powerhead skimmer wise? same question's I asked above :)

I'm slowly trying to gather all the equipment needed to become a salty and i'm on my way :)

I was looking at R/O Units and i'm looking at this one in particular

http://www.aquariumguys.com/hismaxxima2.html

it's the HI-S Maxxima RO 35 gpd, I'm getting a pretty good deal on it for only being about a month used.

What do you guys think?

(Also Skimmer, Powerheads.. any suggestions would be helpful)

I don't like that deal. You can get a brand new 5 stage unit for about the same or less. If you see the need for it, you can always get a high silicate removal resin later on when it needs to be replaced. BTW, most other places throw in a TDS meter to test the purity of your product water. Check out:

www.airwaterice.com (one of the best initial setups, IMO)
www.thefilterguys.biz (good supplies and service. Good place for carbon)
www.buckeyefieldsupply.com (some of the best replacement filters here, IMO)
www.bulkreefsupply.com (cheap, decent units)
www.melevsreef.com (cheap decent units)
www.spectrapure.com (absolute leader in H2O purification)
www.purelyh20.com (a split-off from Airwaterice, good company)

I think I might have confused you a little, I'm not purchasing the HI-S Maxxima RO 35 gpd for the listed price on the website, I can actually pick it up for $130, or is that still not a good deal?

That seems pretty good. Is there anyway I can talk you into a higher product volume? Say a 75 gpd? I know that sounds like a lot, but it can and will really save you in a bind. Always get a unit that makes more than you think you'll need. IMHO, 35 gpd just isn't enough, especially if you have an emergency. There are lots of other reasons to get the 75 gpd units, which includes more cost efficiency, greater rejection rates, cheaper to buy membranes, etc.

I'll look into it thanks for the suggestion, I dont have the biggest budget at the moment so I'll have to see.

Is the AquaC Remora the best I can get for HOB?

I like to refer to them as the best "budget" skimmer. There are definately much better skimmers out there, but for a skimmer in the $100-$200 range I think it is the best.

Well I will be going reef later on in the future, so is another skimmer? going to be better for me? It has to be a HOB tho..
