Ok so I have had these goldfish in quarentine for over a month with no signs of disease. I just want to feed my oscar ONE. Will this be ok? I don't want him to stop eating pellets! Also, they aren't technically feeders. They are young fantails. Is this OK to feed him?

Hmmm...same question as in chat..one will not hurt occassionally.

Mine eats feeders that I breed and sticks. He may try and be picky after you give him a treat but just offer him the sticks. He may try and boycott the sticks for awhile but he'll come around when he gets hungry.

Excess consumption of goldfish will prevent a fish from being able to absorb thiamine. However, as everyone else has stated, "once in a while" is good. It is debated whether feeders are ness. at all.

feeder goldfish are really not at all nutritional for any predators unless you gut load them first with high quality food stuffs, now the rosey reds are a better source so are those frozen silver sides sold for marine species yes so true on the quarantine factor to make sure your not feeding your prize fish a disease dinner, yes an occasional feeder will not hurt though its only when you feed them like that all of the time is when they will refuse to eat anything other than feeders, cool..
