I'm picking up 5 goldfish from someone on CL, I think they were as follows:
2 3.5 inch pearl scales
1 5 inch fantail
and a tiny unknown fancy, probably Ryukin or oranda, hard to tell.
The 5th is a small shubunkin who will go in the pond.
Question is, I already have a size in mind, but wanted other opinions, would a 140g be good to house them together?

i don't think you even need that much space a 100 gallon would be just as good maybe even a 90 but the fish WOULD like the extra space. good luck!

I couldn't put that many fish in a 55, I have one fancy in my 55 now and I feel bad because she is so active..

If you want to replace your 55 with the 140 and put all of your fancies in there together they will be very happy. As you know goldfish like space to move and will use all the space that you give them. They are also social creatures, so they will enjoy the company. For 140 gallons you will max out at 10 -12 fancy goldfish depending on filtration. So 5 fish will fit in there very easily with room for some more friends.

The big fancy is only in the 55 because it's the biggest tank I have without a lot of fish, since I didn't feel safe leaving her outside for the winter.

I like my tanks to have a lot of free space for the fish, so I will most likely have just the 5 fancies in there, and if they breed in the future I will find homes for most of their children.

Oops, it will be 6, I have a teeny little fancy.

I picked them all up, they were much more pretty than I thought they'd be, the only one with a problem is a big male, his mouth is crooked, and he's skinny because of it.
The one female pearl is so pretty, the names Angel and Beauty popped into my head as soon as I saw her in my tank.. she's a light cream color and white, with beautiful black/blue eyes.
The other pearl scale is larger and a red/orange with white. The baby fancy(a ryukin) has a white body, with orange fins and eyes.. The Shubunkin is small, but his fins are huge, I think it's a female, rather fat around her middle already.

In the camera lol
I tried last night to get some, but my computer is rejecting Kodak, I will have to get my friend to upload them onto hers and email them to me.
