my 20g shrimp/spixi tank... the past few days I have seen the smaller spixi's eating shrimp, my guess is that they were dead but how did they die?
water as of this morning:
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
5 nitrates
7.6 ph

I did start dosing very small amounts of Kents Liquid Calcium, diluted and poured no where near the snails/shrimp.
would calcium kill shrimp?

I have a snail that likes to eat shrimps live!! Some shrimps are smart and get out of the way. Other shrimps aren't smart, and dont last long. Needless to say, with this snail, I wont be getting more shrimp.

what kind of snail do you have?

1 blue mystery snail. I have been feeding him lots of broccoli, carrots and snail jello. He still went after another shrimp tonight. This shrimp was smart. The shrimp was teasing him. When the snail moved in for the crunch, the shrimp boogied. lol

LOL he moved in for the crunch:)
The snail would have to be super fast to catch a live shrimp,Most likely there dying and your seeing them eat the carcass.Maybe some bug died in your aquarium and fouled the water some.I know in my shrimp tanks that there is such a small bio load that anything dying will cause a chain reaction but still won't register on the tests

seems like one aggressive snail ya got...
