Bk's 2.5g Experiment

Well then build a shed and house it out there :)

I second that! :)

The fake plants do look pretty good. I believe I see a fish in there but no crayfish.

ehh if anything ill get one of them hydor mini heaters to keep the tank at 70-74F. lol i dont want to rush the stocking since before i didnt have much luck with shrimp and this time i was able to raise a tiny tiny baby to a mature mama gorilla. Also reason why i pulled the boraras out of the 55g because i noticed monthly their population decrease. Guess the big angel had a snack (that female dog..)
Rick you had any luck with getting a prego from the boraras?
One of mine would always get fat randomly and during that time the "males" i would assume, would gain a really nice red color and dance around her.

I hate hydor heaters... And, no. But then again, I haven't tried in the least bit to coddle these fish. Mine stay that deep red color, but are also considerably smaller than yours are. I'm willing to bet their constant bright colors have something to do with them being in a dark blackwater tank though.

Got my brothers 2.5g tank not 2 long ago and decided to turn it into a shrimp/snail tank (no ferts/no co2)
So far it has randomly thrown in plants (flame moss, baby ferns, guppygrass) with a few small branches of manzanita wood.
For the moment theres only 1 female shrimp (thanks derek), 1 purple brig (thanks FTM) and a group of boraras (thank you.. well me..)

sorry if this sound silly, but what are those lovely little things floating? i have not seen these at my lfs, do tell, i must have.:o

OMG......Look how far you've come!!!!!

I am somewhere between here (see picture above) and super algae grower!! I've struck a nice balance between brown algae and hair algae..............

I did have a plant just like those. I threw it away after one of my black kuli loaches almost cut its own head off on one. :headshake2: The loach liked to swim high and just hang over the the top of the 'plant' for a few minutes and then slid down the blades to the bottom of the tank. One night he must've gotten stuck when he slid down the grass. He had deep cuts all over his head. :eek3: He made it though. I don't know how, but he did and I still have him today!! He is also in a tank with real plants now. Can't cut himself on anything now!!!

Sweet BK. I think you need one bigger tank, like a 75 at least and roll with that.

The floating plants are Frogbit, great nutrient hogs.

Kind of inspirational...need to pull out my 5g and set it up as a GBR breeder.
Thanks jeff. Go for it!! But then you will be inspiring me to set up another tank specifically for rams so i can breed them. And since i got bolivians i would be forced to setup a minimum of 10g.. :lipssealedsmilie:

Thanks OG! I wish i got the 75g in the first place instead of the 55, so much more space to work with. Wouldve changed my entire stock with the larger tank but... there were none on the cheap market.

That's a cool little tank, BK!
Thanks Slappy

You have that whole tank for a dwarf cray?

lol before he was running around in the 29g alone.. no filtration, no heating no food. Though there was some dead plants in there so guess he was feeding on that. Grew to be a strong cookie. For now hes in the 10g chilling lol soon will either give him a new home in the 55g or someone elses tank. Would be nice to get a female for him.. ohh only ifff..
